Does teeth whitening hurt?

Professional teeth whitening is safe for your teeth and won’t cause any pain. You may experience a little bit of tooth sensitivity but it doesn’t last long. When you visit our office for a whitening consultation, we’ll discuss your individual needs and recommend the right treatment for you.

How much does teeth whitening cost?

The cost of your professional teeth whitening depends on which treatment you get. Once we decide on a whitening treatment, we can discuss your out-of-pocket costs and go over our financial options. We’ll work with you to fit a brilliant smile into your budget.

Will tooth whitening affect my fillings, crowns, veneers, etc.?

So, there’s good and bad news. We’ll get the bad news out of the way first. Unfortunately, fillings, crowns, veneers, and other such restorations aren’t affected by professional whitening gel. The same can be said for store-bought kits. They’re only useful when whitening real teeth and won’t affect the porcelain or other materials at all. But here’s the good news: we can get you a brighter smile that’s cohesive and complete either by whitening your restorations while taken out of your mouth or by replacing them altogether. The latter is usually recommended for the closest match in color.

How does teeth whitening work?

If you’ve been wondering how to get your teeth white, like really white, products like whitening toothpastes just won’t cut it, as they only remove surface-level stains. Our professional teeth-whitening services utilize the bleaching agents carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide depending on the brand.

Our teeth have two layers. The first layer is an outer layer of hard enamel. The second layer is dentin and is much softer. Enamel is porous, which means that after years of exposing your teeth to stains from food, drinks, or even smoking, the discoloration will seep deeper than the surface level of the tooth. Carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide help to lighten the stains under the surface of the enamel, which gives you a brighter, whiter smile!
